Hi Rtucker,

Oh yeah, gas to the fire is correct.
I have a list in my head of probably upwards of 200 (and that's just the little known ones!) that have run big over the last years.
In fact I posted on my blog last month about the importance of knowing former runners:

guys, why you start discussing over the emails? I'm following this fastk from end of October when it appeared in Public Filters Forum. Can you continue here?

Thank you in advance

If anyone ever has a question for me I always try to answer as soon as possible.
In fact I post stuff here first before I even post it on my blog.
If you have any questions please just ask,I'll do my best to answer ASAP.

For me I don't like the forums to turn into a personal IM,that's the reason for the email thing.

Nice filter you have there.
Looking at the chart of OBCI on 1/5 I can see it caught it right before it's big breakout.
I'm pretty sure not many filters caught that.

Wallman's Fast %K filter is a very good filter for swing trading.
Although I tinker with quite a few filters as a passtime, when I pick a stock to actually buy, I pick it from only three filters, the Fast %K being one of them.
When backtesting a filter,I do look at such things as win/loss ratio, ROI, etc.., but they can be misleading. What I do, is divide the Running Gain (from the Equity Summary)by the number of Completed Trades. This may not be the best method to judge results, but that's how I grade the filters.I use either a 5-day or 10-day max holding period, with no stops.I do not pay attention to filters that have astronomical 1 or 2-day results.
Right now the slightly modified %K filter, for the last 4 months, shows a Running Gain of 5965 on 243 Completed Trades. This figures out to about 24, which is the best of the main three filters by a considerable margin.

A lot of traders on SF are "bottom fishers",which means that a lot of the stocks will be on a downtrend.Usually, the traders wait for some sign that the stock is ready to reverse and start up, at least temporarily.. Other traders are momentum traders and buy stocks that are in a general uptrend but have temporarily dropped in price.
However, a lot of these filters can be used in either situation. Generally, I specify that the slope of the linear retracement channel be above zero, which indicates that stock is in a general uptrend. I think this improves my chances, but some traders are good enough that they can profit in any situation.

Hi Corsino, thanks for the reply. That makes sence now.Btw,any good, profitable, momentum filters that you traded??? I'm basically looking for stocks under $10,in some kind of uptrend,or better yet,the beginning of an uptrend.Thanks,Mike....
