I can use that I can compare an indicator to the past? Say I want to find a stock that has a day of big abnormal volume compared to 1 yr past. How can i construct the phrase? For instance, say I want to look for stocks today that have increase volume over 500 percent compared to a 1 yr past time frame. Meaning within a yr a stocks price increased the higest today. thanks

You might try something like :

"Volume 500 percent above 1 year high 1 day ago. "
