here are some posts about the ema13/sma20 to maybe help you understand better and how to use it:

http://tiny.cc/rnjMb
http://tiny.cc/KVsFx
http://tiny.cc/e8H2Z
http://tiny.cc/L3Jmx
http://tiny.cc/empbk
http://tiny.cc/jXl2A
http://tiny.cc/GLv6o

Note: In the past year since these posts Muddy has told me he has widened the ZONE just a bit,he now uses ema10/sma30.
Not much difference at all, does seem to work a bit better.
He always stresses to me the price does not have to close in there, just a bottom tail in there or just a Touch of it.
Look at KYUS chart as example, this was running since 5/8 then the tail touched the ema 10 @ 2.18 on 5/19 ...it closed at 2.43 that day and has gone on to hit new 52 week highs at 4.47.

klynn,
I don't understand what you mean by 500 candle.

13th : sorry, i meant the candle that represents the 500 percent increase, should you treat the 500 candle differently if it is merely one a cluster over the average volume candles, or should you look for one single 500 percent candle, im referencing Chetron last filter on 5/25. His filter reads:

stocks where volume is 500 percent above average volume(90)
and price is between .05 and 20
and date offset is 0

some resulting stocks have a number of larger than average volume candles.
some have one candle over 500 percent,

kylnn,

This is a very interesting question.
I've never thought about it but probably worth investigating.

Only thing I'm pretty sure of is if it's a 500 red candle above the ubb's it almost always comes down.

Cluster vs. 1or 2 500 candle(s)..........hmmmmm

13th: KYUS would be an example, look at all those volume bars, do you wait for
a sole volume bar or simply act if there be one or many?

13th___floor-------Great day today. Early in the chat room you posted 20
stocks. They were some good ones. Where did you dig those up? When you posted xrit now I jumped on it. Made some good change. When i saw they were not going to let it go over 2 bucks I sold at 1.97

Thanks,
lizzydog

kylnn.
Really makes no difference to me at this point.
The one thing I'm positive about though is the red candle outside to halfway out of the UBB.
If you see this with the 500 candle and you like to short it's almost cash in the bag the next day if goes red.

Lizzy,
Congrats on XRIT,nice trade using the even mark at $2.
I was in at 1.69 from yesterday,we thought alike I got out with you:)

The ones I posted: SHMR DCR SPF INGN PWRD BCON NWA DAL CHTR AEO AMR COGT SINO NPD HIMX FBTX HGSI SNUS DAKT EFUT PSTI VSNT RCH BOSC XRIT AKNS CKXE JADE RTK UOMO FORD SCSS GPM

all came from IB pre, I love it cause it has "length of time" that the stock has been on the list.

Muddy taught me to really watch hard the "late hits" on the pre leader board.
XRIT AKNS UOMO were 3 beauties
Makes sense the late pre's,here's his blog post on it.
The guy is a genius imo, he uses unconventional ( and simple ) stuff to rake it in .

Thing I love too,I see so many worrying about where the market is going, me I could care less, these stocks have a life of their own!

Also I look to go long on any of the top 10 or so preleaders in price PLUS volume that have reported earnings since yesterdays close.
my list to scan were:
ISPH TMWD PARL MBRK XJT NSM FPP ONXX NOG PDO

PARL fit the bill perfect:
5:01 p.m. EDT June 5, 2008
Jun 05, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Parlux Fragrances, Inc. (PARL:
announced its results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2008. Sales from continuing operations were $153,696,374 compared to $134,365,094 in the prior year, an increase of 14%.

(Jun 06-09:40) 13th_FLOOR: PARL hod 4.26
(Jun 06-12:51) 13th_FLOOR: PARL not stopping on earnings
(Jun 06-12:52) TomT: damn it just hit 5.
PARL opened at 4.21, hit hod 5.19, closed at 4.90
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

and go short on "fluff" news ones when they hit red
TRX fit that bill:

(Jun 06-08:24) 13th_FLOOR: TRX kinda fluffy news imo yest, watching for red
(Jun 06-09:34) 13th_FLOOR: TRX nice red

Today was the best "shorting" day ever for the Top Combo hits.
Simply amazing.
Out of the top 20.......SOIS HDLM SYNM SPF QTWW UNCL RTK XRM FTWR MMPI ICOG NYNY EEE XJT FBR FBTX ENVI TRX SSN HYHY

9 were green then turned red and I mean BIG red in the cases of EEE -14%, XJT - 21%, NYNY - 23% and QTWW - 23%
The others weren't shabby either.

Of the second list 21to 40 there were also 9 that went from green to red.
ROIAK FPP IMB PFB WCI NBF HDSN ROYL HDY KYUS YTBLA VNDA MBI ABK ENT BCON CPSL KOG RCH IAR

WCI ABK MBI PFB were the best at - 10%

This is what I said in the very first post on this Combo scan:

13th_floor 5/8/2008 9:09:16 PM

These stocks are at least 8% ADR(30) AND have run at least 10 times in the last 100 days over 10% in a day.

Use green to red for shorts and red to green for longs.
Great for daytrading, many times very good for short swings as long as you can keep an eye on them.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This is my primary watchlist for daytrading and again thanks to TRO for the RFR scan and Muddy for adding the ADR30 concept to it.

(Jun 10-09:28) 13th_FLOOR: SURG just hit pre with big vol surge

(Jun 10-09:33) 13th_FLOOR: SURG 2.50 cross
late hit on pre leader board.

(Jun 10-09:37) 13th_FLOOR: SURG 2.80

(Jun 10-09:44) sheezo: would have bought SURG at 2.60
(Jun 10-09:44) 13th_FLOOR: thats where i got about….2.56
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
2 mins before open I spotted SURG with vol moving big.
SURG went on to hit hod 3.45
That's 35% in less than 6 hours, not 6 months.

Such a simple angle but like taking candy from a baby many times.
And not like there's alot everyday, most days only 1 to 3.
