sO dARVAS BOXES AREN'T THAT GOOD?

YOU MISS THE LESSON. He made over $2,25 million in the 1950's from a $25,00 account in 18 months. So I guess that's about $10 million in today's money....are you giuys doping better than this woth your indicators?

WOW.....I bow and beg to your superiority.

It isn't a mechanical method where you blindly follow boxes to make millions. I have a Darvas interview. email me if you want it:

wallman

HI TX,the filter i use can be found in msg # 2789 in our muddy yahoo group,with an explaination, somewhere along the line someone changed my rsi(2)IS BELOW 20 to IS BELOW 10 and that incorrect (for me anyhow)filter has gotten passed around,also with a limited number of muddy matches like i have for monday (only 5 )to get what i believe are still a few more quality watches i will increase the rsi(2)to below 25,with these 2 changes,and with price between 1 and 15 and average volume(90)above 100000 and considering failures it should give you the matches i listed i believe,hope this clears it up,good luck,MUDDY

==============================================================================

HI DICK, i will guide you through what i do exactly every night , remember this is just me,thanks to MURKND and others many of the filters have been incorperated into 1 or 2 filters which includes tails and volume increases and failures but since i'm an "old school" kinda guy i like to run each filter seperate and look for the volume increase and tails myself,i'm from the school of thought of if it ain't broke don't fix it so with the success i've had over the last couple years i can't change,first i run ....(1)

Fetcher[
SHOW STOCKS WHERE CLOSE HAS BEEN DECREASING OVER THE LAST 3 DAYS AND AVERAGE VOLUME(90) IS ABOVE 100000 AND CLOSE PRICE IS BETWEEN 1 AND 10 AND PRICE TOUCHED LOWER BOLLINGER BAND(20)
]

then i change "touched" to CLOSED BELOW to pick up a few others,then i run a date offset of 1 on both to pick up failures, then,and thanks goes out to AVERY once again, i put the RSI 2 into play,i run.......(2)

Fetcher[
SHOW STOCKS WHERE RSI (2) IS BELOW 1 AND 60 DAY SLOPE OF LRI(60) IS ABOVE 0 AND LOW IS NEAR BOTTOM LRI(60) AND AVERAGE VOLUME(90) IS ABOVE 100000 AND PRICE IS BETWEEN 1 AND 10
]

then again i do the date offset to 1 to pick up failures , then i run.........(3)

Fetcher[
SHOW STOCKS WHERE RSI(2) IS BELOW 1 AND CLOSE IS BETWEEN 1 AND 10 AND AVERAGE VOLUME (10) IS ABOVE 100000
]

... if a stock matches on 2 of these it is considered a "double",on 3 a "triple", doubles and triples are often times very potent on a green hold when this occurs imo, then if less then 12 - 15 matches to watch for green i will change "where close has been decreasing over the last 3 days" in filter # 1 above to "DROPPED MORE THAN 10 PERCENT OVER THE LAST WEEK" and chart for tails and volume increases and date offset for failures.........that's it,sounds time consuming but i've got it down to around 20 minutes most nights and that is fine for me ........if after all this and i have less than 15 to watch,which can happen in a good market rally i will use one other filter,a variation of the DARVIS box which i was taught in 1963 which i used exculsivly for over 35 years , of course without the RSI 2, which has made it much more potent,it goes like this :

Fetcher[
SHOW STOCKS WHERE THE CLOSE REACHED A NEW 52 WEEK HIGH WITHIN THE LAST 10 DAYS AND PRICE IS BETWEEN 1 AND 15 AND AVERAGE VOLUME (90) IS GREATER THAN 100000 AND VOLUME IS GREATER THAN 100000 AND STOCK PRICE IS 100 % GREATER THAN 52 WEEK LOW AND WHERE CLOSING PRICE GAINED MORE THAN 26% IN THE LAST 26 WEEKS AND RSI (2) IS BELOW 20
]

the reason for the increase from 10 (which i only trade in muddys) to 15 is i know very many of these stocks from when they where well under 10 in years past,on a few rare occasions you will find a stock that matches both a muddy filter AND the "box" filter,these can be very powerful plays for quick bursts, in the past few days TMWD LPSN IMMR have fit that bill,the beauty of the "box" is that when we get a nice running market and have few muddy matches we can play up near the top bb's where alot of the stocks are hanging out,the filter will find many of those that went through or touched top bb,pulled back some as is natural but are poised to start their run again back to the top bb thanks to the low rsi 2 indicator ........hope all this helps
===========================================================================

I sure do miss Wallman/Muddy.

MAY ALL HIS FILLS BE COMPLETE.

Thank you TRO for sharing your ideas and experience.
I followed the steps you have described and of course I need some clarifications.

First, let me share the list I got as final result
EEEE - triple
WON - double
CBRX - double
WLDA - double
PRSF - double
DTPI - single (overlap in 1st filter with CLOSED BELOW instead of TOUCHED)
ICOHA - single (overlap in 3rd filter)
ULBI - single (overlap in 3rd filter)
VVUS - single (overlap in 3rd filter)
RGEN - single (overlap in 3rd filter)
VERTD - single (overlap in 3rd filter)
BKBO – single (overlap in 3rd filter)

Because there are 12 tickers I didn’t proceed with the final filter. Ok, the real reason is that I need to digest this stuff first. Elephant must be eaten in pieces.

Here are my questions:
1 – “change date offset of 1 to pick up failures” – Does it mean to pick up the ones (overlaps) that are showed in both lists (with & without date offset 1)? That is what I did.

2 – do you “date offset” also the 3rd filter to pick-up failures? That is what I did. I think you “date offset” also the 3rd filter because it is less restrictive than filter 2 and would produce many single hits.

3 – could you please or ANYBODY ELSE compare your list with mine and let me know if the results match?

TRO, once again thank you for sharing your ideas and experience

I think you are mistaken.

The post you are referring to was written by Wallman, aka Muddy.

radovan.arendas,

I recommend that you start by charting as many symbols as possible to help you get a feel for this method. So, I would say you should date offest all filters for now. Most of us who have been or are practicing this method have modified it or personalized it over time. I personally have focused less on the Bollinger Bands and more on the linear regression channels. For example:

show stocks where rsi(2) is below 3
and add column rsi(2)
and set{lr1,count(low is near bottom linear regression line(30),1)}
and set{lr2,count(low is near bottom linear regression line(60),1)}
and set{lr3,count(low is near bottom linear regression line(90),1)}
and set{x, lr1 + lr2}
and set{Total, x + lr3}
and Total is more than .5
and add column Total
and set{s30, count(30 day slope of close > 0,1)}
and set{s60, count(60 day slope of close > 0,1)}
and set{s90, count(90 day slope of close > 0,1)}
and set{dsub, s30 + s60}
and set{Ttl, dsub + s90}
and Ttl > .5
and sort by column 5 descending

This filter finds several candidates with low RSI(2) near the 30 or 60 or 90 day LRL. I think most of the ideas within this filter are from TRO, but I can't remember anymore. There are a wealth of these filters from some wonderful people at the yahoo stockfetcher group.

Muddy/Wallman is/was a very good teacher. His posts are fantastic for their clarity and good humor. After you have read every post from wallman or muddy, you will have a good feel for which are the best candidates, your entry signal and your exit.

Good luck!
