Positive divergence: RSI is making higher lows and price is making lower lows. Bullish sign

Negative divergence: RSI is making lower highs, and price is making higher highs. Bearish sign.

What about this. Is this significant?

1. RSI making lower low, but price lows are equal or increasing.
2. RSI making higher highs, but price highs are the same or decreasing

Clam,

I applaud your enthusiasm for higher understanding, but your time and effort will be better spent if you do some actual reading. There are countless books on the subject of technical analysis, of which you might want to start with some of the household names like Martin Pring, John Murphy, and the like. If you would like a more comprehensive listing of authors and titles, I would be happy to oblige.

With regards to the above question, query Google for "hidden divergence".

yes please any and all info is welcome

thanks for your help

update:
awesome! i searched for hidden divergence and found soem great info.

every day after i daytrade i print out the chart along with indicators and study and try to notice pattersn in indicators and candles around missed opportunities and mistakes i had.

this "hidden divergence" is something that i noticed, but since i have only been doing this for about a week i was not sure if what i noticed was a coincidence or not.

it makes sense, however, from the perspective that RSI is trying to gauge momentum.

Here's a brief list of writers who have become household names among the community of techies, or so I'm told. At any rate, the list ain't exhaustive but I chose the most pertinent books (methinks) that should be pleasing enough to whet ure appetite.

...well...a few I like (in addition to the nice list(s) already posted) include:

Trader Vic - Methods of a Wall Street Master by Vic Sperandeo

The Stock Trader - How I Make a Living Trading Stocks by Tony Oz

The NASDAQ Trader's Toolkit by Rogan LaBier

Better Stock Trading - Money and Risk Management by Daryl Guppy

Long Term Secrets To Short-Term Trading by Larry Williams

The Trader's Edge by Grant Noble

Market Wizards by Jack D. Schwager

These are not really Technical Analysis books per se...but good reads nevertheless...
