Lebowski,

I just use the actual index - $SPX.X, $DJI, etc.,

Hawkeyes,

Not sure he actually used a filter (or even needed to) because financials have been so strong. He likely just saw ETFC getting large block activity and institutional activity while searching for other financials and it caught his attention. The runs lately in financials and biotech haven't really required filters because they have generally been the most active.

lession# 4 options--this is the hardest but you can go the schaefferesearch.com and check out during the day-where the action is- lately its been mostly on c and bac--what you do is look at the different strike prices calls and puts to see if the big players are buying or selling the calls or puts--Stocks

you can also go and use the probabilty chart on any optionable stock on optionistics.com--it will give you a bell curve with a middle area- and upper aND A LOWER AREA- so what i do is take 50% of the middle and add it to the down and up probabilty side-- example from today on the qqqq its 49% down 16% middle and up is 34%- that gives me up 43%-down 57%- this seems to run 60-80% in accuracy- friday on bac it was 55% down and 45% up- and as you can see bac went down today( important note-best time to play options is the last 2 weeks of exp because they spend the first 2 weeks bringing down the option prices as much as 50-80% sometimes- if you look on a graph you will see most of the big runs are made the last 2 weeks of exp--)--sometime lke etfc today its very obviou which way the options will skhew the stock movement--etfc today-36% down 64% up- thats very strong--another thing you can do on optioistics is go to the option price history and look at any option strike- -what you will see before a big run up on a option price is a sudden drop in the put/call ratio- like right before the sept 5 calls on c the ratio dropped 0.78--- 0.60- then the price of the option went 0.13 to 0.60 in a few days--on etfc sept calls you can see the same thing a big drop in the ratio down to where the option was 0.03- then a sudden move up to 30 cent in 3 days

M$M, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed with stocks just yet even though I have a good background in other areas. I just wanted to say that I'm learning more from you recently than from any other single source. All contribute, of course, but you've opened up a lot of new ideas and resources so your willingness to share is deeply appreciated. Thank you.
