New trade entered for today - ABFS in at 9.99. Currently trading down at 9.54.

If you are not using limit orders you might want to get in on this at the low, low price of 9.54. Not sure why the drop. Was it from earnings?

EDIT: It looks like it was from their earnings call today.

Doubtful. But on the plus side it is now trading at 10.18!!

EDIT - I mean 10.40 ... a quick 4% from the system entry.

I dont think is was us that made the price spike up. Bank of America just gave it an upgrade.

Kevin,

Please help me here. Why don't my triggers match yours. Which code should I use. Also, which exit are you using currently.

Thanks

31 Jan Fills

RIMM out +5%, printed green from mkt open
WBSN out +3%, bottomed 1 hour after mkt open, using -6% rule I was filled very close to the bottom
HALO still holding, filled @ $6.66, currently trading @ $6.08, bottomed 1 hour after mkt open, after fill stock went on to drop to $5.79 45 min later.

Notes: I have noticed that most of these stocks will bottom 45 min - 1 hr after mkt open. Out of 5 stocks, 4 exhibited this behavior. The only exception was RIMM today, which printed green at the open.

I am unable to monitor the mkt at opening or the gains could be increased by watching the 15 min chart and entering the trade 45 min - 1 hour after mkt open. This would have been very helpful for HALO today.

Currently, I am simply setting a limit order per original instructions ( previous day close -6%)

Well, today you probably could not put in all 22 possible trades as limit orders. One way to play this (freely admitting that this deviates from the mechanical system rules) is to monitor the trades intraday and wait to see if toward the end of the day there are better entry points than one would have gotten using limit orders. This then becomes a discretionary approach, but one that still takes advantage of the statistical power of the mechanical one.

I think this can be backtested in SS - I simply need to replace the rule "low below trigger" with "close below trigger". That now selects for stocks that meet the mechnical entry requirements but closed lower than the trigger price. Then you would be buying a market order near or at the close for a better entry. Fewer trades would be entered, but at better prices.

HALO in at 6.11 out at 6.27. 321 shares equals $51.36 I'll take it.
