CBMX and CRUS hit this morning.

Prodigio is actually working well for this strategy.

what happens when the open is below our limit buy order (6% in this strategy)? The system will not pick it but we will have it. So how do we make sure we replicate the system to get the backtested results (or very close to it).

It depends on what system you are using. For example, in Prodigio I have coded this system so that a market order is entered only if the current 1 minute bar has closed above the trigger and the previous one had closed below it (a "cross above" trigger to place an order). That way no limit orders are used and the scenario you descibe would not trigger a trade.

This type of coding also prevents you from getting into a trade that opened above the trigger and just drops like a stone all day.

However, in the scenario you described a limit order is filled first and you are screwed. That's how they work.

Thanks Kevin.
So what is prodigio? A broker or means to automate trades using some other broker. Are they better than IB?
I am in Canada so will I be able to use prodigio.

Prodigio is an automated trading system that is now working with OptionsHouse. Not sure if it is readily available in Canada. Their web site is www.prodigiorts.com

Prodigio sounds like something to check out. Is there a way to exclude a sector of stocks ie. Biotechnology? I would want to think twice before I automatically traded these guys.

You can only search up to 500 stocks using the automated system. The limit really is there to prevent delays in order execution since reviewing 7,000 stocks real-time is a huge amount of bandwidth.

I would suggest that you set up a custom list based on what type of volatility, price, volume, etc you also want. Getting to 500 good candidates should not be hard.
