I believe the bottom is in. (as of 02/05/10)
Check your charts and tell us what you see.

And your basing this on ???

HEHE :P

BTW,

I think if we can close above yesterday's high (roughly above the midsection of the 2/4 candle) that would be a very good sign. Thoughts?

E:
Remember, "the trend is your friend".
Use your trendlines ...
Since Jan 15, '10 ... draw your trendlines from lower highs to lower highs; then draw your trendlines from lower lows to lower lows.
You'll see the "trend" reversed on 02/05/10. We now have higher lows and higher highs.

edit:
Pull up 30 day chart of $DJI and JPM then draw your trendlines.

What do you all think about the blue level? Critical to close above this level to start going bullish again?

Not in the sense of "no work on the sabbath", just trying to refine a simpler and more profitable trading system than the ones I have been using to date.

I am not speculating on where and when a short-term bottom is in. If I were to, I would guess that we have further to drop over the next few weeks, depending in great part on the EU economic issues and how they play out.

We'll have a bottom when the dollar rolls over ...

Kevin,

I posted the updated VIX rules I found that uses the Connors VIX Reversal. According to those rules (as far as I can tell, we have NOT seen a bottom). Please let me know what you think and if you have the time can you read my other post that showed the rules and test them when you can?

Thanks,
Erik

Bartune1,

How did your trades hold up during this bearish time in the market? I got hit on a couple trades that trended and didn't revert to the mean quickly enough.

E:
I'm only looking for two things: higher highs and higher lows ... and not going back to 9,999.
Today we made a higher low, but not a higher high.
We'll see what happens tomorrow.
(I'm expecting a gap UP at the open)

Kevin,

It is my hope that you are working on a bi-directional trading strategy that you attempted several months ago using ETFs. I know you like TNA and TZA. If a strategy could be attempted to capture the swings in the market, both ways, that would be great!

Keep us posted Kev!

Mike
