EW,

Just to throw something at 'cha...

In this statement:

//"I use stochastic timing ( 5,3 ) in all chart periodicities. The slow line is smoothed, the fast line is forward weighted."//

Are simply using a standard SlowStoch(5,3). Or by saying "forward weighted" are you referring to using a... WMA of the RawStoch Calculation (5, )... and then the typical SMA for the further smoothing ( ,3)?

Thnks,

Trading is not gambling!

When you gamble, you give up control. The spin of the wheel, roll of the dice, turn of cards, etc... decide the outcome.

If you trade well, you are in control of the trade. You can decide to cut losses or take profits at any time.

Wait a sec...

I think I should have said... a WMA of the FastStoch calculation... RawStoch is not smoothed, and therefore only has a single parameter(K only). It gets a little confusing sometimes.

Here, I'll write this down, so I can sort it out in my own mind...

RawStoch (K)= the basic value... ((latest - (x)peiod low)/((x)period high - (x)period low)* 100). ...(ie. x=5) ...hence one parameter.

%K = the smoohing period(SMA typical,ie.SMA(3)) of the (K)

FastStoch = (K,%K) ...as the parameters. ...ie. FastStoch(5,3)

The calculation for FastStoch is now referred to ...%K.

%D = The smoothing (SMA typical) of the calculation of FastStoch(now referred as(%K)).

SlowStoch = (%K,%D) ...as the parameters. ...ie. SlowStoch(5,3).

Hmmm, did I leave anything out. lol

Oh yea, ...we could get even more involved...

Fast%K = FastStoch(5,3).
Slow%K = SlowStoch(5,3).
Fast%D = (S)MA of SlowStoch(5,3).
Slow%D = (S)MA of Fast%D.

I never seen the further breakdown in use but it's been defined this way in places...only to further confusion, I'm sure, lol .

Yup, my question relates to the smoothing of FastStoch.

Wow... Stick all that in your pipe and smoke it. HeHeHe!

No! My question does relate the initial smoothing if the Raw.

I'm happy I sorted that out. I've got a wee bit of smoke coming out my ears.

I wish this site had an edit feature.

There's a minor mistake in my translation of the above calculations. Let's see if someone can catch it.

EW,

"It's like having three people trying to push a car ,but they all push with different timing. When finally says O.K. on the count of three we'll all push... then the car relly starts moving."

Good analogy.
