Nice call yesterday, BarTune!!!

The volatility-based trigger seems to be playing out quite nicely. Hope others are watching and learning. It is a simple system, uncluttered and accurate.

Thanks Kevin,

Got in from golfing today .... everything is in the green to the tune of about $5K today .... which is pretty nice ....

I am also lucky that I got out of my oil position the other day ....

Feels good moving from one green to the other, eh?

Note my use of Canadian there at the end? Just to make you feel at home while in the States!

Yeah, been having a tough time getting to the greens both ways lately. Oh well, going back home near Toronto tomorrow .... was in Charleston the other day ... quite a nice city ...

Kevin - WAY TO GO with this one. This is exactly what I've been looking for. wow - Couple this viewpoint with a few smart picks from your ibd lists, and we are in the green! Really gives you a comprehensive view.

and BarTune - gotta love Charleston. Hyman's fish. Rainbow Row. Enjoy yourself! (MB isn't so bad either)

Tman:

I'm with you on this - picked up 50 shares of TNA right at the close @36.21. If the trend is still down for the next few days, I'll add in more TNA each day (learning from BarTune1 on this).

Also paper trading the Nov 38.00 call on TNA - 20 contracts @2.55

Kevin,

I like this strategy real well. I've been studying the bid / ask spreads on the SSO, TNA, QLD, SPY and various similar ETF options that are related to this stategy. TNA has higher spreads than SSO and SSO higher than SPY, although TNA will move more percentage wise than the others. I'm interested in figuring out the wisest trading vehicle, the most bang for the buck. Also with yours and Bar Tune's rule about exiting at the 5 day ma, I think vertical spreads, say buying the TNA 38's and selling the 42's, hypothetically, could give more leverage also. I'm curious about the best possible way to protect yourself on the option trades, that go against; such as is there a way to set stops on options? I'm thinking in terms of putting on a position say EOD and letting it work till EOD next day, but being able to get out of an option trade with a stop; curious if anyone has any imput? Thanks, keep up the good work.

I'll paper trade a TNA vertical buy the Nov 38 sell the Nov 42 for $1.30; $590 max profit per contract. We'll see what next week brings. Scratch this post decided on different study.

buy 10 verticals SSO Nov 09 33/38 call @1.48 limit, max profit $3,520 cost of trade 1,480 + 39.95 com. = 1,519.95

buy 10 verticals TNA Nov 09 38/43 call @ 1.50 limit, max profit $3,500 cost of trade 1,500 + 39.95 com. = 1,539.95

buy 10 verticals QLD Nov 09 48/53 call @ 1.68 limit, max profit $3,320 cost of trade 1,680 + 39.95 com. = 1,719.95

buy 10 verticals SPY Nov 09 105/110 c @ 1.57 limit, max profit $3,430 cost of trade 1,570 + 39.95 com. = 1,609.95

buy 10 SSO Nov 09 33 call @ 1.65 limit, max profit infinite, cost of trade $1,650 + 24.95 com. = 1,674.95

buy 10 TNA Nov 09 38 call @ 2.55 limit, max profit infinite, cost of trade $2,550 + 24.95 com. = 2,574.95

buy 10 QLD Nov 09 48 call @ 2.25 limit, max profit infinite, cost of trade $ 2,250 + 24.95 com. =2,274.95

buy 10 SPY Nov 09 105 call @ 1.98 limit, max profit infinite, cost of trade $ 1.980 + 24.95 com. =2,004.95

Will do a percentage loss/gain calculation at close of trades. Just eyeballing the information the SSO 33 calls look good, the #'s will tell the tale.
