Since this hasn't been discussed here before, i thought i'd bring it up once.

woodiescciclub.com

There are some videos on the site (all free).
Its about pinpointing entry points for short term trades. Certain CCI patterns
suggest break of support / resistance.

Any thoughts or experiences with CCI for entry/exit?

Would love to see some filters pinpointing stocks for daily trades using Woodie's parameters ... anyone ever seen such on SF? Anyone care to take a shot? I gave it a go but not very good results just yet.

There's no such thing as a bad filter. It can always be improved. Share ure filter and, you just might know, it may see the light of day under collective endeavor.

Thanks Alf! Good site and nice summary you gave. What SF filter would you recommend to create a daily watch list for these patterns? --d

Just by googling "woodies cci" it retched more than 20,000 results. With "woodies cci -(inurl:blog|group)", there were 258 results. With "blog|group" intact, it returned 798 results. Obviously with so much info, you're likely to be out of time before you even make the attempt at reading.

So, Alfie, why don't you just write a "Cliff Notes" or, better yet, "Woodies CCI for Dummies" for the noobs among us? In the meantime, get ure very own copy of "Trading Woodies CCI System" at...

...Woodie trades almost exclusively "intra-day 5 minute charts" !

He uses a CCI(14) and CCI(6) {he calls the CCI(6) a "turbo CCI"} and he overlays them...on top of one another.

That's it ! That's literally ALL he watches !

He looks for a variety of CCI patterns...and believe it or not...doesn't even look at price much at all. Almost all of his attention is paid to the CCI indicator...and the CCI patterns.

His "Ghost Pattern(s)" is/are essentially a "Head and Shoulder" pattern...and are observed on the CCI (it can be either on the CCI(14) or the CCI(6)). You trade them just like you would any H & S pattern (ie. draw a trend line across the 2 troughs at the shoulders and enter on a break of that line). Obviously, these are counter-trend set-ups. A Head and Shoulders TOP would be a counter-trend SHORT set-up...an inverted Head and Shoulders BOTTOM would be a counter-trend LONG set-up !

Other patterns the Woodie devotees play :

"Shamu(s)"
"Vegas"
"Zero Line Crosses"
"Zero Line Rejects"
"Slingshots"
"Trend Line Breaks" (TLB's)
"Hooks"
"Hooks from Extreme" (HFE's)
"Divergences" (regular and hidden)

and some others...

-------------------------

I have to say I've studied all of these a great deal. I like'em !

But...I try to apply (not ALL but some of) them on Daily Charts...as opposed to the intra-day set-ups that the Woodie crowd prefers. I also don't use the same CCI periods (I use a CCI(30) and a CCI(10) fwiw).

There is alot of good stuff out there on all of these patterns and the whole Woodie CCI method.

Here is a pretty good place to begin if you're interested in any of this...

Here's the very simple filter, just trying to catch divergence on the daily. Included is a display garnered from TROs various displays which I've become fond of:
