Hi All, This program creates nice chart from the backtest trades csv. The chart shows how the strategy would affect $10,000.00. It compounds it gains or losses. I quickly wrote it yesterday because I wanted to see a picture of the strategy. I'm more of a visual learner, i guess.

Enjoy, Steve

Thank's

I have little question
The program check what happen if you take 10,000$ for each stock that you buy or it takes the 10,000$ and divide it to the number of shares that you buy each day?

Koronbock,

I think his question is:
if the filter returns more than one stock, is $10,000 divided between the number of stocks, (2 stocks, $5,000 each) or, is $10,000 worth of each stock bought (2 stocks, $10,000 each).
My question is, what is the purpose of the chart?
While I think it's great people are willing to write programs to analyse filters, this doesn't make sense to me.
I ran two filters through it.
1. Win/Loss: 52/43. ROI: 222.6%. Trades: 137
From 1/3/05 to 8/5/05. Beginning balance: $20,000 Ending balance: $520,000
2. Win/Loss: 55/43. ROI: 199.35%. Trades: 52
From 1/3/05 to 8/5/05. Beginning balance: $9,500 Ending balance: $35,000
What is the practical application of the chart?

You may want to use www.earnings.com

Their list is more complete.

shelupinin:

I figured out your program but I have a few questions...

1) I had to copy/paste from yahoo.com or earnings.com into excel, delete the unwanted column, then past into a .txt file to "feed" your program because there is no download. Do you have an alternative method.

2) What file types will your program work with?

3) Sometimes your program quits BEFORE I have a chance to enter the second file name... is there a time limit?

THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE.

to TheRumpedOne:
Thanks for soo good words, I'm happy to hear soo many "thanks" from such cool guy like you :)
1)about copy from web-page:
I do it following way:
copy form Internet Explorer
then paste into excell sheet
then copy second column with tickers
then insert it into new excell sheet
then save this sheet as .txt file
I counted time, it takes 20 sec to do...
2) this programm works with .txt files, where every ticher should be next line like:
ticker1
ticker2
ticker3
3) there is NO time limit, I never had such problem....
TheRumpedOne, could you check my post "recovery after rsi(2) <1", is it possible to do?
Alex
