Hi !
from news: "Shares of Apple Computer (AAPL) jumped 9% this week to $41.55 on phenomenal quarterly sales of the technology outfit's digital music players."
See the chart: www.dx200.biz/aapl.html
Can you see big price gain during first 15 minutes after market opens?
It looks like that if company reports good results for previous quarter or improved forecast for next quarter then you can see price gain in first 10-15 minutes because of big demand.
The idea is simple: buy stock at first seconds after market open and sell it in 10-15 minutes... but to do it I have to know such "good news" before stock exchange open..
So could someone advise me where can I find such market news BEFORE merket open?
thanks
Alex

Hi!
I guess same principle applys for every big company...
from the news: "IBM (IBM) rose over 3% to $84.50, helped by its latest quarterly results that eased investor concern about its missteps earlier this year. It reported late Monday that its profit rose 5% over the year-ago period"
see the chart: www.dx200.biz/ibm.html
can you see big uptrend in first 15 min after market opens?
You know many online brokers has "automatic orders", if some company publish good news, good quarterly results, then "buy order" executed... if some big company, which everybody know, publish good quarterly results then automatic buy order will be placed, so thousands and thousands "buy orders" will be executed, it's like avalanche, price goes higher and higher...
So does somebody know where to get quarterly results BEFORE market opens?

Jim(jclaffee), thank you, I found it !!! http://biz.yahoo.com/research/earncal/today.html
It looks like the strategy to buy stock of the company which just reported good profit is very attractive, see EBAY price movements today www.dx200.biz/ebay.html, and it's news "EBay soared 16% in the pre-open after the company's profit surged 53 percent to 21 cents a share, and subsequently raised revenue and net profit forecasts in the current third quarter. The company's second-quarter revenue rose 40% to $1.09 billion behind acceleration in its U.S. business and online-payment service"... Because of huge avalanche of "buy offers" price was in uptrend first 1.5 hours, not ordinary 15 min uptrend after market opens.... Tomorrow I'll buy some company with "good news"....

Hi Alex,

While this is a better strategy than buying stocks that have tanked, it's no guarantee that it will work out. Look at the chart for DECK today, (21 July) it was up over 10% in premarket, then tanked about 15% in the first 15 minutes. Although this is an unusual chart you need to be aware that it can happen. If you're trading money you can't afford to lose you should try papertrading it for a while. It is also helpful to have a trading plan mapped out so you know what to do if the trade goes against you.

Good luck

If you do not have the patience for paper trading. How about this ..Go back and find previouse good earnings reports

then check the stock charts to see if you can make money from this consistantly.

Hi!
to "Way2Late" and "costner": yes, I checked charts of many companies which posted good quarterly results, not all companies have 15min growth after market open... It looks like only huge copmanies like Apple, IBM, Ebay have such growth afer market open... I guess one of the possible reasons is an existence of "automatic buy orders" at online brokers, just imagine how many people want to buy Apple or IBM if they post good quarterly results... if they post such good results then thousands and thousands "buy oreders" automatically placed... and copmare this situation with DECK... who knows DECK? How many people will buy DECK if they post good quarterly results? only few...

shelupinin. . .

In the opinion of this one observer, your plan needs a LOT of checking out before you put your cash on the pass line! Let's say that big company XYZ announces at 0600 New York time that it had a blockbuster quarter. . .within seconds after the news hits the wires, I'll betcha that the price of XYZ on the Frankfort, London and Paris markets jumps up, climbs and the opportunity for the big score at the NY open is gone! The specialist who will establish the opening spread is in business to take your money not to provide you a chance to take a bunch of someone elses.

Caveat emptor!

Jim
