Thug -

You better look again...I haven't offset it, but I can tell you that you will NEVER get a single hit with this filter, because it makes no sense. You better rethink this....

Just because you take soneone elses filter and reverse it, doesn't mean it's a filter. A lot of thinking and strategy goes into building filters, so I would at the very least make sure it's a filter before you post one in the future....but that's just me....

to answer "wallStreetgenious"

The theory behind the bullish engulfing is a downtrend is in place, then, the gap down the second day continues the trend, however, something during the day occurs, and investor sentiment changes, causing a turn around. This turn around is bullish because it erased all of the previous days losses.

It's a fairly reliable pattern.

HOW DOES A CANDLE THAT GAPS UP AND ERASES ALL OF YESTERDAY' S LOSSES DIFFER?

There is not "gap up".... it would not be a bullish engulfing.... it would be a bullish kicking pattern

day one continues the trend downward, then, day two gaps down.... however, a shift occurs, and the shorts cover creating an uptrend....
