try change to
SET{SPY, IND(SPY,CLOSE)}

Thanks Duke, I erred in my cut and paste, but after getting it to work from my corrected post I figured out the real culprit. I had modified my global filter. After turning the GF off for Kevin's filter it worked again. Now I just have to figure out what was wrong with the GF!
