what do you guys suggest?

I have a friend who likes to hold for 6mo to a year. Not that he is looking for a super duper gain (and not like he isnt) but he just isnt comfortable or capable day/swing trading.

What filters/indicators would you suggest for this sort of trading?

What would you use as an entry signal?

Thanks very much if you can help at all, any feedback is welcome.

rsamo,
Stock Selection and Entry are separate issues. Long term B&H requires good fundamentals. I use a 'weekly' chart and look for consistent, steady, performance over the time period of interest. (Be careful not to mix time periods between selection and trading.)
Select stocks meeting your criteria and put into a watchlist.

ENTRY: Add a column, rsi(9), to watchlist.
You could sort this watchlist by rsi(9) manually, or create another filter:
<<show stocks with RSI(9) < 35 and apply to watchlist 'mywatchlist'.
You will be entering your stocks when the strength (rsi) is the weakest.
EXIT: more important than entry. Your friend should know at 'entry' time what his exit strategy is. Capital preservation is ESSENTIAL.
Good luck,
Peter.

he has some stocks (like SIRI and ALTI) that he bought YEARS ago and keeps saying "but it might go a bit higher!!"

WTF is with this thinking?? He had SIRI at $2 and when it was $9 he wasnt happy.

im starting to think he just doesnt want to sell ANYTHING hahahah
