I want to look at historic 15-, 30-, 45-, 60-day % changes of the Close values for ^SPX and compare them with the xx-day % changes I get in my backtesting of other filters.

This filter isolates on specific stock symbols but won't work with ^SPX:
open equals ind(^spx, open) and volume equals ind(^spx, volume)

Apparently, in SF I need to use some symbol other than " ^SPX ".

Can anyone help?

Try "SPY" (the ETF of ^SPX).

That works. Thanks.
