Riggs, I have been playing with this for the past few days. I wanted to give credit for a very nice job. I don't want to get into an argument about which indicator is better but I feel the two combined is really powerful! Your quote of "when Billy rises on a down day, and RSI falls...you're looking at a strong candidate for an entry," is very true. These do make very good candidates. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Drew, but you have my quote backwards. I didn't say a "down day." I said an "up day." Now the stock itself, I like when it's on a "down day,"Not that it doesn't work on a market "down day", I just don't recommend an entry ever on a negative day. But you're right, this set-up that I found truely is sheer brilliance IMO, and coupled with the fact that NO ONE can dispute it, says it all....

Thanks again,

RIGGS

about backtesting filters ...

When I first started using SF, I backtested every filter in every thread. The more time I've spent learning about the markets from TRO, Riggs and other SF contributors, the less time I've spent using the SF backtester. Now, I almost exclusively interpret data from the columns and rarely use the backtester. You really need to understand what you are trying to do in order to get the most out of any system backtester.

WSG....

We're not worthy, we're not worthy, Oh great one!

Hope the woman/women you run with has as nice a bottom as this filter...

Question... since the display only shows 20 columns and your filter sorts on column 29 what are you sorting on?

BuyLate -

It's because I had it offset at "0". I had "column 29" saved for the performance column (since %) at the hard rt edge of the dashboard. Sorry about that, and I'm glad you're enjoying the filters. Isn't in amazing?...you get in on the very day you need to at the BOTTOM! It's taken me 4 years to accomplish this...

WSG,

Still not understanding the sort default when running filter on the current day (offset 0).
For Friday I have CSC, RDC, OMGI, CRVL, CHEUY, ACH
Why are these coming up as the top six?

thnx

BuyLate,

You're not getting it man. If it's offset to see the performance (since%), then if you take it away, there's all of a sudden no "offset 29". Do you understand? There are plenty of collumns for you to offset it with. You can use the financials by offsetting "ROE." This assures you the best of the bunch IMO. You can do it by "PE" for obvious reasons. You can offset it for institutional interest, by having "adval" at it highest levels...i.e "100". You can offset it at "15 descending" (rsxrs). This will give you the stocks that have fallen the farthest, and have caught the "bottom." So you've got some different angles here that can give you a different perspective on the filter. Let me know what you think now...
