I haven't been doing anything on this one in a while. Mostly been out of the market (since late April). Looking more at Connor's ETF trading strategies right now.

I've been tracking the progress of this for the last few weeks, using a few tweaks of my own. Papertrading a $5000 account, and looking to enter 1 long and 1 short each week if possible. I don't short anything priced under $5, since some brokers do not allow this.

Here are my results for the last two weeks:

Date Stock Direction Entrance price Shares Profit Total

7/6/10 - 7/9/10 HPP ( 1st stock not < $5 ) Short 17.1 290 247 5247

7/12/10 - 7/16/10 HPP ( 1st stock not < $5 ) Short 16.41 150 -21 5226
7/12/10 - 7/16/10 ERY Long 57.29 40 82.8 5308.8

For this week, the filters show a buy for SKF, and a short for CRS. We'll see how things pan out.

Not a good week for SKF and CRS in the direction I was in. Stopped out of CRS for a 10% loss, and closed SKF trade for a loss at close on Friday. Total capital now stands at 4875.

For next week - FAZ long, LPX short.

For the week of 7/26/10 - 7/30/10:

FAZ - closed out with a loss
LPX - made 5% target

Total capital stands around $4923.

For this week - GKK long, FBN short

You already made your 5% on GKK - open at 1.49, target at 1.57, high already at 1.58.

Looks like you're up about 2% on your FBN short play as well.

Yup, 5% on GKK, but FBN stopped me out at -10%. Capital stands at about $4795.

One possible approach to avoid getting stopped out is to look at stocks where the LOW for the week is X% below the weekly open, and the HIGH is still 5% above the weekly open.

Then look for a pullback to X/2% from the open price, while still keeping the 5% above open as your profit target. Just figure out the average % difference between the weekly low and the weekly open over the last 26 weeks, and set a limit order to trigger if it pulls back to half that distance.

You may not get into as many trades, but your risk is mitigated and your potential return is higher.

That's a great idea! I'll look into writing a filter for that.

Haven't been able to look into what you've mentioned Kevin, busy couple of weeks. For this week - GKK (long) and PATH (short). PATH has already returned 5% on Monday.
