The train is leaving the station, but heading in the wrong direction!
Karen, I think my UGL and AGQ trades just became investments.
==================================================

Proshares??!!!
Ewwww!
Proshares ETFs are way overpriced.
Instead of UGL @ $46., for gold, I would've bought LIHR @ $29.
For silver, AXU @ $3.30 instead of AGQ @ $58.

This is JMHO, of course.
Good luck!

Karen:

I go with the 2x leveraged ETFs here because I will invest the same dollar amount in a trade, and care only about % return. Also, Gold and silver prices are subject to less stock market influence than GDX or mining stocks.

Not that it matters right now, being down 10% in a week. I guess going with LIHR and AXU, at least I wouldn't be as badly in the hole.

E-x-a-c-t-l-y- !!
I've become so risk-averse, I just don't fool with the ETFs when there are so many GOOD (and cheap) gold n' silver stocks to choose from.
Your "timing" doesn't have to be perfect either ..
Take a look at the charts ...
LIHR
GRS
GSS
AXU
VALE
CCJ

I wouldn't mind being "stuck" in any of these.
LOL!

Agreed. The 2x's are for a quick hit - in and out in a few days. Owning them longer term is risky due to their price degradation over time. If you looked at the pivot point filter I posted a few days ago, it TOLD ME NOT TO ENTER INTO THESE TRADES.

Did I listen? No.

Did I use good money management practices? No.

Did I plan this trade out, using clear signals from the systems and indicators I have come to rely on? No.

Not my best effort - it won't kill me to hold these, and in all likelihhod I'll turn a profit sometime next year, but for now it sucks.
